Full of laughter!!! Kathy and Jays wedding ceremony and reception was held at one of the places that we love to visit, Ocean Cliff Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island. This wedding was very special to Kathy and Jay due in memory of Kathys mother. During the ceremony the flower girl was wearing Kathys mothers wedding dress, it was a very special moment. At the end of the ceremony there was laughter when Kathy pulled out the infamous ball and chain for Jay. The reception was a blast. We truly have to say this wedding was full of memories, laughter and happiness.

Everyone was dancing, laughing, singing, and seeing the new bride and groom be happy together on the dance floor was the best part of the night.

It began with a cloudy morning which was a bit scary at first but there was a little bit of sun peaking and we knew that it would be a good day! ( We crossed our fingers!) We began the travel in the early afternoon on our way to Norwood to begin filming the DeLuca wedding (While spilling some coffee along the way, poor Liz she had a wet bum for a while). When we arrived at the brides house she was MIA! Just kidding! She was getting her hair done. This gave us sometime to gather some footage of her dress and all the cute little wedding things that she has posted all over the room. She was such an adorable bride. The ceremony was at First Congregational Church of Norwood. They had large bridal party there had to be at least 20 people plus kids! The Reception was held at Four Points Hotel by Sheraton in the Tiffany Ballroom. This venue had a awesome group of wait staff that throughout the whole night made sure that not only was the wedding going well, but they would always inform us of any event that would take place at certain times. The Tiffany Ballroom was also equipped with a video projection system which was a plus. The night ended with a bang! Jen pulled off some unbelievable same day editing and both bride and groom said that it was the best part of their entire wedding day!

I knew she had breast cancer, but I never saw her sick. By sick I mean the day after chemo, nauseas and poked full of needle holes. Or sad, and by sad I mean crying that she may never get to see what her sons would become. The idea of Breast Cancer was never scary to me because she was such a strong woman, I never saw her flinch. She always had it together, she did crafts, sewed alot, and was always responsible for hosting big family get togethers for every holiday & birthday. To me, Breast Cancer seemed as serious as a cold that just stuck around longer. My aunt went into remission after extensive treatment and a mastectomy, and I didn't really think about it again. I remember everyone was happy, but I never really "got" it. Then a short time later my mom was diagnosed. Maybe my mind has erased all the painful memories, but I really don't remember much of her being "sick" either. She was so tough and I am sad to say I was too young to see it at the time. She was a first grade teacher and taught those kids wearing a wig while fitting in Oncologist appointments and chemo and radiation treatments. Even with it in my own home, being a young, junior high kid with friends and cheerleading practice to go to, I don't think I ever realised what a horrible thing my own mother was living with. She kept me so safe and protected from what cancer truly was for her. I cannot imagine what it must've been like for her when her head hit the pillow at night. What a burden to carry.

My mom died when I was 12 when the cancer had spread throughout her body and I have never felt so blindsided in all my life. I had no idea that women actually die from this disease. How could I have been so naive? Maybe I was in denial, maybe I did know and didn't want to believe it. My aunt had a recurrance a few years later and also passed away. And yet again, my family was touched by this disease when another of my mother's sisters was just recently diagnosed.

Everyone in this world has a woman in their lives that they care about. The Susan G Komen 3Day Walk is not just for those we've lost or those living with the disease, it's also for the women in your life that have never been touched by the disease. The funds raised by the 3 day events held all over the country are there so you don't have to see your mother, sister, wife or friend ever wear that head wrap like my mom and aunts had to. A cure is possible. We can make it a reality.

Nate, one of our trusted camera guys, is married to a wonderful woman who has made the commitment to walk in this year's 3Day in Boston August 15th through the 17th. Lori, along with all the other walkers who have registered, have the responibility to raise $2200 each for the cause. We have promised to do all we can to spread the word and help her to beat her $2200 goal. So, we are asking everyone who has the means, to help. Every little bit makes a difference, and I personally thank you for helping to find a cure before my sisters, my stepmom, my grandmother, my best friend Liz & I are faced with the chance of having to fight the disease ourselves.

Lori's Donation Site is HERE. You're probably all thinking that we never returned from Puerto Rico because it's been so long since I've posted. Well, let me tell you, here in the middle of wedding season and crazy schedules I wish I could click my heels together Dorothy style and transport myself not back to Kansas but back to that beautiful tropical oasis where the only concern was when the last time I applied SPF. But if I did that then Liz and I would've missed the last 4 weddings we've shot and they were all a blast to be at, so I guess being home with our fantastic clients, our loving families, and lots of work to do isn't so bad. But for the record, I am going back!

Ok, on to the weddings! The ones we shot 2 weekends ago I'll tell you about today, and the other two I'll post in the next few days when we finish up their trailers.

So the first wedding was on June 21st. Allison and Dustin got married about an hour and a half west of us in Springfield, Ma. It was hot, but the sky was sooo blue and there were the best puffy white clouds in the sky. We can usually get really cool shots of the sky then there are clouds like that. If it's too bright out with no clouds the sky tends to look white when we shoot, and the same goes for when it's overcast. So it's a real treat when there is that really sharp contrast between the blue of the sky and the white of the clouds. I know some of your will probably think I'm crazy getting that excited about the clouds in the sky, but when I see something that I know will enhance the videos we shoot it just gets me amped up! So anyway, they got married at Sacred Heart Church, and Allison and Dustin don't know this but when I went outside before the ceremony started to get a shot of the church and as I crossed the 2 lane street my toe seriously got run over by a car! I could not believe it. I swear I looked both ways. I don't know if the guy didn't see me or what but if anyone in Springfield hears a guys talking about how he almost killed me...smack him one on my behalf please!

Their reception was held at the Clarion Hotel in West Springfield and the staff was so great to work with. We had a fantastic meal that was served hot! Believe it or not, many times we're the last to be served and we're lucky if our dinner is even warm. So it was a nice treat.

Allison and Dustin chose Christie's Photography to shoot them throughout the day. They had a lot of family and a big wedding party to keep track of and make sure all the necessary posed shot got taken care of, so we were really impressed with their crowd control skills. They were really friendly and were really good about keeping an eye out for us and staying out of our shots. It's so great when we get to work with a photographer that respects what we do as much as we respect their job. It would be great to have the opportunity to work with them again.

Here is their trailer that Liz edited:

Next we shot the wedding of Danny and Melanie on Sunday, June 22nd. This wedding was an amazing melding of two cultures. Danny is of Chinese descent, and Melanie is...well...not Chinese! lol! I could not get over how open both families were to eachother's culture and how loving they all were. We could definitely see that Danny and Mel married into very supportive families. Melanie is a wonderful artist and has such a creative spirit and let me tell you...this girl has an eye for detail! Not one thing was overlooked, not one thing out of place, but at the same time it never felt like she was stressed about it. Absolutely amazing if you ask me. Danny is a baker and I am just dying to get my hands on some of the cookies he makes. Can you imagine marrying a man that will bake you pastries and cookies, and cakes whenever you want??? Uh yeah...sign me up!

The happy couple got married at Independence Harbor in Assonet, Ma. I could not get over how beautifully maintained the gardens of flowers were. It was like walking into a Martha Stewart book. They said their "I-Do's" out on the lawn by the gazebo and invited all their guests inside for a decadent cocktail hour that included a chocolate fountain, fruits, and other goodies. The chocolate fountain did me in. 3 marshmallows and 3 pretzels later I was feeling like I was in sugar overload land so before I overdid it we jumped in the car and headed for our favorite reception venue in Chinatown, Hei La Moon. When Mel and Danny arrived we headed through the streets adjacent to Chinatown and convinced them to go inside a Chinese market to get some really cool, different shots from inside. Let me tell you, all the shoppers inside the market were really staring at us like we had lost our minds, but we got some of the best footage we've gotten in a long time. It was just such an outside the box idea and luckily it went off without a hitch! Kudos to Mel and Danny for being good sports and trusting in our crazy ideas!

They booked photographers from Bella Pictures that were a blast, and I have to give them props too for hanging in with us while we had Mel and Danny doing all this crazy stuff. They went right along with it and got some fantastic shots in the process! The photographers that shot the day were Tim Ryan Smith, who is a dead ringer of Joey MacIntire from NKOTB. I know I'm totally giving away my age and maybe embarrassing myself by even admitting that I was a former New Kids fan, but being from Boston, like being a Red Sox fan you kind of have to support them by default. So anyway, his work is amazing, you HAVE to check it out! Second shooter was Todd Wilson. He has a great sense of humor and was such a good sport trying all the unfamiliar traditional fare during the Chinese Banquet at their reception. I can't wait to see some of the images he captured while we had Mel and Danny running around in the Chinese market! Update: Here is one of the images Todd caught of our dinner:

I can't forget to mention Mel's cake. She designed it herself, being the creative girl that she is and the fabulous bakery, Confectionery Designs from our hometown of Rehoboth, Ma. One of the owners, Mark Soliday, was Danny's instructor while he attended culinary school, and now I can tell what a great baker Danny is after trying the cake by his teacher. Mel was so good to us and made sure we had a piece of their fabulous cake before we left for the night, and let me tell you..so good, so good. Their Limo company that provided all their transportation for the day was Raviele Limo and their driver was the owner of the company, Rob. He did a fantastic job of getting them where they needed to be on time, which makes our job so much easier and less rushed. Thumbs up for Rob!

Ok, on to the best part...their trailer... <embed style="width: 476px; We've worked with the publisher on several articles for the magazine and this time it's nice to be able to help them get a little more exposure like they've helped us. I've never been before, so it'll be an adventure, especially considering I hate sand with a passion. I love the beach but hate the sand, so we'll see how i do on this trip. Who knows, maybe I'll love the sand in Puerto Rico...I bet I could get used to it along with the beautiful weather, beautiful people and everything else wonderful about a tropical destination. Hey, maybe we'll get stranded!! Well, it'll feel like we're stranded for the four days we'll be there because Liz and I both made an agreement that we wouldn't bring our laptops with us. Me without internet access is like Mac without the Cheese. Check back next week for video clips and photos from our trip!

Oh and, obviously because we're not bringing our laptops we won't have access to our email, so if you need us we'll get to you on Monday night when we get back. But no worries, our wonder of a Production Coordinator, Maureen will have everything under control while we're gone and she's always available to help out if you need her! Ok folks...off I go to pack the SPF, the shades and my flip flops...and get some much needed sleep.

</rss:item><rss:item rdf:about="http://ftpweddings.squarespace.com/weddings-gossip-tips/2008/6/4/susanna-and-vin.html"><rss:title>Susanna and Vin</rss:title><rss:link>http://ftpweddings.squarespace.com/weddings-gossip-tips/2008/6/4/susanna-and-vin.html</rss:link>

<dc:subject></dc:subject>

Susanna and Vin had their ceremony at the Westin at Copley in Boston with a great view of the bean through the floor to ceiling windows as a backdrop. Theirs was our first Chinese wedding and we were amazed to see all the gold Suzie was given during their tea ceremony. There were a few MC Hammer comments, that's all I have to say. It was so amazing to be a part of such a strong family tradition.

After the ceremonies it was time to head toward China town for the reception at Hei La Moon Restaurant where there was 12 courses of family style chinese food served!!! Everytime I turned around there was another course coming out of the kitchen. There is one thing for sure no one went home hungry!

The best thing of the night was seeing how truly happy all their guests were to be there celebrating with them. There was such a strong connection to family, and they made us feel right at home.

Here is their video trailer.

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
